Our Christmas tree legacy starts with “grandpa” Jack Wiseman, who was one of the pioneers of growing Fraser fir trees commercially. In 1962, Jack planted his first crop of Fraser Fir Christmas Trees. Most people thought he was crazy for planting trees in such large quantities since that wasn’t a common practice at the time, but it made a way to move his young family home to the mountains. Now, present day, growing and selling large quantities of Christmas Trees is the livelihood of many families throughout the High Country, and Jack’s children and grandchildren continue his legacy of growing and selling Christmas Trees from the same farms he purchased years ago.
